We received many excellent proposals from a wonderful panel of experienced, well-known speakers.
We decided to provide as much content as possible, and therefore, two tracks will run in parallel in two different rooms.
We tried to cover many topics, and, of course, our new projects, such as the Migration Assistant and the REST Service, will be present. We will have several dedicated sessions on AI and on running MySQL on K8s.
The conference will end with the traditional MySQL Rockstar Ceremony.
We really think most of you will enjoy this agenda!
See you in Belgium. If you haven’t registered yet, click here; registration is mandatory.
We are excited to announce that the preFOSDEM MySQL Belgian Days 2026 will take place on Thursday, 29 January and Friday, 30 January 2026, in Brussels — just before FOSDEM 2026.
This two-day gathering brings together the MySQL community: developers, DBAs, engineers, tool-builders, and enthusiasts — offering a fantastic opportunity for knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration. The event will feature two content tracks, community sessions, expert talks by MySQL engineers and contributors, the much-anticipated “RockStars Award”, and a chance to mingle over good food.
Why You Should Attend — or Speak!
Share your expertise — Are you working on an interesting MySQL project, tool, performance optimization, migration story, or scaling challenge? This is your chance to present.
Learn from experts — Meet core MySQL engineers and community veterans, and catch talks across a wide range of MySQL-related topics.
Community & networking — It’s a friendly, community-driven event. Expect to meet people who work on very different aspects of MySQL: development, operations, tooling, open source integrations, and more.
Two-day format + two tracks — More room for variety, deeper discussions, and better match between talk topics and audience interest.
Call for Sessions — Here’s How to Submit
We invite you to submit your session through the official CFP page: the call opened on 25 November 2025 and will close on 25 December 2025 (23:59 local, UTC+1).
Don’t forget to mention the duration of your session!
Help us spread the word — if you know other MySQL enthusiasts, developers or DBAs who might be interested: forward them the link, share on social media and community mailing lists, or invite them directly.

General details
The default duration for talks is 25 minutes including discussion (20 + 5).
If you plan to register your proposal in several tracks to increase your chances, don’t! Register your talk once, in the most accurate track.
There will be a fringe event, the preFOSDEM MySQL Belgian Days (January 30 and 31), and submitted talks may also be accepted for this event.
The MySQL devroom is subject to the same code of conduct as FOSDEM (see below).
For accepted talks
You will receive an email to tell you that we accept your proposal
Expect additional emails with more instructions
For rejected talks
As you can see the amount of tracks is minimal, however, rejected talks have a chance to be selected for the preFOSDEM MySQL Belgian Days.
In any case, you will receive an email.
Desirable topics
The MySQL devroom aims to host talks about MySQL and connected projects.
The talks can cover the following subjects:
Developer talks (developer using MySQL)
Developer talks (developer hacking MySQL)
Ops and DBA talks
Tooling around MySQL
Marketing or closed source software talks won’t be accepted. Keep in mind FOSDEM’s spirit when submitting a session. “Hackier is better” ;)
Submit a talk
The Pretalx system will be open for applications from October the 30th, 2024.
We are excited to announce the schedule for the MySQL & Friends devroom at FOSDEM 2023. This year’s devroom will feature a diverse lineup of talks and presentations focused on MySQL.
The program is still in draft form as we await confirmation of accepted speakers.
We encourage you to mark your calendars and join us for what promises to be an engaging and informative event.
In addition, don’t miss the chance to extend your stay in Belgium and participate to the preFOSDEM MySQL Days that will take place on 2nd and 3rd February 2023. Registration here.

We tried to have a wide range of popular topics within the limits of available slots and not forgetting the spirit of FOSDEM which is the right place to promote the development and the hacking mindset.
As you know the CfP for the devroom has been open and you may have noticed that we have only half a day that we also need to share.
Therefore, we will have only 4 sessions and they should look like this:
We didn’t decide yet which of the two colors will be for which project.
Due to the very low number of sessions, we will not attempt to compose a selection committee.
Managing a committee to find the candidates, collect their decisions, communicate and especially ask for votes (and yes often these are very busy people) is a time consuming process.
For the committee, reviewing the proposed sessions is a lengthy procedure and agreeing on 16 sessions is already very complicated so only for 4…
However, you may have also noticed that there will be two pre-FOSDEM MySQL days. We will check the proposed FOSDEM MySQL Devroom session to see if there is any content that could be presented at these pre-FOSDEM MySQL days. I will then contact the speakers and invite them.
Don’t forget to submit inspiring sessions, we look forward to reading them !
If you have not purchased your ticket yet for this years FOSDEM MySQL, MariaDB and Friends Community Dinner, hurry! We’ve already sold 2/3 of our tickets since launching tickets sales last week.
FOSDEM is back in town, folks, and as usual, there will there be a MySQL and Friends Devroom. At this point, we can’t really remember what came first, was it the annual dinner or the devroom? Our memories of the past few years are particularly hazy on that… Can’t imagine why.
Following a great tradition of dining together in style with members from all over the community, we have rented a by now familiar private space at ICAB, more detailed directions below.
A couple of things changed compared to the last couple of years. The community dinner will take place on Friday night 2 February, following the Pre FOSDEM MySQL Day, both in the same location.
The listed ticket price includes a selection of Belgian Speciality Beers and food, which will be typical Belgian style (no ‘Italian’ Pizza!)
If you have any dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free,…) please let us know ahead of time when buying the ticket as we need to inform the caterer who will make the necessary accommodations for you.
We’re looking forward to meeting you all again at Fosdem and the Community Dinner. See you then!
The venue itself is located very close to the VUB. A map is displayed below to help you plan your route.
The total distance from the heart of Brussels, Grand Place, is about 20 minutes by public transport, along the route of metro line 5 (closest stop: Petillon). Be sure to use Google/Apple/Your Preferred Maps to determine the best way to get there, though as both tram and bus lines are also an option.
Oracle’s MySQL Community Team is organizing a pre-Fosdem MySQL Day on Friday 3rd February 2017.
The event is free (like in beer) for all participants but as seating is limited, registration is required.
Come to meet MySQL engineers and listen to them talking about new MySQL 8.0’s features. Some of Percona’s experienced staff will also deliver some talks on troubleshooting, architecture, …
And finally, Booking.com will also share their user experience with the audience.
What else to start the Fosdem Week-end in the best way ?
